After a relatively smooth 8hr flight yesterday, and with no unexpected hold ups through customs, we managed to make it to the Wood Apple residency without hassle late last night.
Our first official day here in India started this morning with breakfast around 9.30am. A few boiled eggs on toast set me up nicely for the day. We then met as a group to discuss the plan of attack for our observations and training seminars which will be starting from tomorrow. Everyone is really friendly, positive, and excited to get involved with our teacher mentees in the schools.
We then stopped for lunch, which I was initially nervous about until I tasted it. A beautiful selection of Indian curries, tandori chicken and naan bread finished off with hockey pokey ice cream. Tasty, filling, and not upsetting to the stomach. Yet. So far so good! We then took off for a day of exploring where we visited a local market to get some nice local clothing for our final day. The boys attempted to barter with not much luck but still walked away with a pretty good deal on some handsome looking kit. We then continued to the Akshardham Hindu temple which was beautiful. The grounds were immaculate and the stone carvings were stunning in their intricacy.
The temperature has been high and humid, but we have spent a lot of time in our air conditioned car so have not spent the entire day sweating. We are back at our accommodation now (which by the way is very good and well air conned) getting ready to have some dinner and chill for the evening after we have made sure everything for tomorrow is good to go.
